Details of the Job/Internship

A process improvement that shaves cost off a chemical synthesis route is worth protecting before a competitor works it out independently, and that is the gap a speciality-chemicals manufacturer with an export-led order book is hiring for. The company is filling a Patent Agent seat on its IP desk through Flexiple, reporting into the legal function that also handles its export contracts.

The portfolio here is mostly process and formulation patents rather than the compound-level filings a pharma company runs, which changes what the job looks like day to day - you would spend real time with process engineers understanding what actually changed in a route before you can draft a defensible claim around it. You would run prior-art searches, draft and file applications with the Indian Patent Office, manage office-action responses, and keep the docket current across an active but not sprawling portfolio. Because the business exports to Europe, you would also coordinate with external counsel on select foreign filings.

This role suits someone with 3 to 8 years of patent prosecution experience or a registered Patent Agent qualification, ideally with a chemistry or chemical-engineering background strong enough to follow a process description without hand-holding. You should be comfortable working with engineers rather than researchers, and able to turn a technical conversation into a claim that holds up.

• 3 to 8 years patent drafting/prosecution experience, or registered Patent Agent status
• Chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical background
• Working knowledge of Indian Patent Office procedures
• Comfortable working directly with process engineers on invention disclosures
