Details of the Job/Internship

S&P Global is hiring a Principal Legal Analyst for the E&P Terms and Above-Ground Risk team to join their office in Gurugram. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and communicate wide-ranging legal, commercial, and economic issues affecting the upstream oil and gas sector in Asia.
• Monitor and assess the impacts of key contractual, regulatory, and fiscal developments affecting the upstream sector.
• Maintain detailed risk scores and a variety of regulatory trackers for the APAC region.
• Engage directly with clients and regional governments through strategic presentations and discussions.
• Collaborate with global subject matter experts to build integrated research on how energy transition developments impact the oil and gas sector in Asia.
• Support oil and gas companies and financial investors in assessing legal and contract terms to adapt to a low-carbon world.
• Utilize world-class datasets to create insightful research and inform upstream policymaking.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law is essential.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in the upstream sector in Asia.
• Prior experience producing high-quality research and analyzing laws/contracts from several distinct jurisdictions.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage qualitative and quantitative information.
• Excellent professional writing and presentation skills in English.
• Proficiency with MS applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Desirable: Further studies in energy policy, regulation, or taxation.
• Preferred: Experience with AI tools in a research environment and familiarity with energy transition trends.
